What we believe
- In 2013, 112,070 people were homeless in England – a 26% increase in four years. At the same time investment properties and rooms in mansions are empty.
- 1 in 5 children in the UK will miss a meal today because of poverty, while in the UK we throw away 7 million tonnes of food from every year.
- In Australia 2.55 million people (13.9% of our population) were living below the poverty line in 2012, even though average adult wealth grew by 5% that year.
The current system isn’t working and it’s time to do something about it. Join us to challenge the status quo, imagine a different future and work together to create a fairer world for people and planet.
ChallengeWe challenge ideas and systems that create injustice, and invite you to think critically with us.
When it comes to changing the world, two questions can help: why are things the way they are, and whose interests does that serve?
We all have worldviews that shape our ideas and opinions. We believe that unfair systems exist in the world because too many of us accept things as they are or outsource our thinking to others.
Critical thinking about why we choose the meanings we do, how we live our lives and the effect that has on others is important. It can unmask ideas and structures that promote injustice and unfair systems that keep people in lives of poverty and disadvantage.
We all have a role to play in creating a world that’s fair for everyone – the first step is stopping to consider what you believe in and why.
We encourage everyone to think critically about the world we live in, how we live and what impact that has on others and the environment.
ImagineWe imagine simple steps we can all take to create a fairer world.
Imagination is a powerful tool that unleashes opportunities for practical change.
Social challenges – like injustice and a lack of fairness – exist because too many people conform, forget, are complacent and afraid of stepping outside boundaries.
We believe that it takes imagination to drive change and create a more just and fairer world. We believe that together we can imagine the ‘new’, the ‘alternative’, the ‘creative’ and use imagination to develop ideas that can change the world, or even just a small part of it.
TransformWe want to transform communities for a more just and fair world.
Transformation requires adventure, risk-taking and stepping outside your comfort zone.
It’s easy to feel powerless to create change, but when we add up the little decisions we make every day, they have huge collective impact. Together, we’re a powerful force for change.
